Henry P. Clough Computer Lab

Henry P. Clough Computer Lab

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! I hope that this can be a place for interactive communication for both parents and students. It is my goal to share news about advances in technology, updates about activities in our technology classroom, as well as great websites that I may come across. I also hope however, that as parents and students you will share with me websites and/or software and hardware that you are familiar with and know that kids love!

As you come across new tech tools, please use this as a place to share! I will also be posting sites, videos, and articles I think you and your child may enjoy.

I’m looking forward to another fantastic school year and as always working as partners to advance our children in the 21st century. Remember to visit my website for further information about our computer lab at the Henry P. Clough Elementary School.

What A Great Start!

Our first month of school has been fantastic! I was very pleased to see how much students have remembered over the summer. First graders have been able to remember how to log on and our fourth graders have learned how to create their very own passwords! We will be launching into Internet Safety for all grades in the next few weeks. Netsmartzkids.org is our favorite place to visit and learn about Internet Safety. Students will learn the importance of not talking to strangers online. They will also learn to never share their personal information online and what to do if something online makes them feel scared, uncomfortable or confused! We do activities, watch many videos and play the Internet Safety games on this site during our weekly technology class. Should you have any questions about this curriculum please contact me and/or visit www.netsmartzkids.org!

Where Did The Time Go?

Only a few more weeks left of school! Where has the time gone? Students are working hard in all grades to finalize projects. In Grade 2, students are working on an animated number booklet using Kid Pix. In Grade 1, students are finalizing a Mixed-Up Animal project also using Kid Pix. Students in Grade 2 are finalizing their All About Me Slide Show which include animation, their voice, music and transitions! In Grade 3, most classes have wrapped up an Excel project and we will spend our last few classes exploring PowerPoint. Finally, Grade 4 students are trying to complete their State Slide Show! Phew!! We have been working hard and I am so proud of all my students!

Please note, that all projects connect to classroom curriculum and foster technology integration and important technological skills students will need in the real world!
