Henry P. Clough Computer Lab

Henry P. Clough Computer Lab

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! I hope that this can be a place for interactive communication for both parents and students. It is my goal to share news about advances in technology, updates about activities in our technology classroom, as well as great websites that I may come across. I also hope however, that as parents and students you will share with me websites and/or software and hardware that you are familiar with and know that kids love!

As you come across new tech tools, please use this as a place to share! I will also be posting sites, videos, and articles I think you and your child may enjoy.

I’m looking forward to another fantastic school year and as always working as partners to advance our children in the 21st century. Remember to visit my website for further information about our computer lab at the Henry P. Clough Elementary School.

What a second half to the year!

Wow, we have done a lot of different activities in technology this year. Many of what the students worked on you will see during Specialist Night for grades 2, 3 and 4. In addition, students in these grades have recently participated in STEAM centers! Here is a link to the activities and photos are below!

It's 2018!

Wow, our year is going by so fast! Students in Kindergarten are using the paint program to draw their dream house. Grade 1 students are using paint as well but are learning how to diagram the life cycle of a plant. In grade 2, students are beginning an animal research project using the Internet and our software Kid Pix. In grade 3, students are learning how to use MS word to create an Acrostic poem and finally, in grade 4 students are beginning a lengthy research project revolving around a state and using PowerPoint. Our year is going by and we are moving along. I'm so proud of the technology skills our students are learning! Check out the photos below of our grade 1 students!

November!

Wow! Time is flying. It's already November and students are currently learning about Internet Safety. We have learned that the rules for using the Internet are similar to the rules in the real world.
1. Always ask a trusted adult
2. Only go to websites that are just right for you
3. Only talk to people you know
4. Never share your personal information like your name, your phone number or your address

Students in grades K - 2 will continue to use Netsmartz and participate in a variety of activities teaching about online safety. Students in grades 3-4 will continue using Common Sense Media - Digital Passport. Mid-month we will start launching into a month-long adventure into computer coding! We will use such sites at Tynker, Scratch and Hour of Code!
